Money , greed , & corporate payoffs are behind U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings Senates bill to introduce the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Act . This bill proposes to put copyrighted devices in hardware as well as software . This coupled with the DCMA , will take away any rights of ownership consumers may have . It would effectively require hardware manufactures to put devices in CDR's DVDR's and such , that would block you from copying copyrighted material . Although no such device exists . Hollings said that "any device that can legitimately play, copy or electronically transmit one or more categories of media also can be misused for illegal copyright infringement, unless special protection technologies are incorporated." It's certainly amazing , a public official , has time to protect the entertainment industry. Even though this bill in unfeasible , it's disgusting the Senate is wasting tax-payers money .....to take away our Fair Use Rights . If you enjoy taping TV shows , burning some compilation disks , or copying anything , send him your regards here .
